My family was able to do this relatively easily on a rainy day. Definitely muddy and can be slippery, but there were no issues for us. We all wore tennis shoes, 7 year old was able to easily keep up and wasn't even tired after. It was pretty "cool" temperatures bc it was a drizzly day in early December. We didn't meet a single other group or hiker on this trail. I definitely recommend this hike! Take your time, enjoy the mostly shaded trek. Follow arrow and go right behind the fallen tree. Really enjoyed this hike! Not sure how long it would have taken us, we missed the turn to the right! When we back tracked, we could see a large arrow painted on a tree pointing to the right. I didn't get a picture of it but when you climb over a huge log over the trail, that's where you go right. We hiked up the wrong way about half to three quarters of a mile. That's where we saw a bunch of pink markers and I believe this would take you over to the other way another reviewer mentioned off of Old Pali highway, we could see the road. It gets a bit hairy in sections, we were holding on to roots and branches to avoid sliding down the hill. I imagine this trail is wet and muddy all the time, it definitely was for us. We saw people in flip flops and sandals, I wouldn't recommend. We parked at the golf course, google maps took us directly there. It was $15. The trail to the falls was fairly easy, the rest of the hike we did i would say moderate to hard. The falls were beautiful and I would do this hike again!

Gorgeous hike! It’s well shaded so you don’t get super hot. It’s definitely wet and muddy though, so bring a rain jacket and shoes you don’t mine getting REALLY dirty. Would also recommend bringing a plastic bag to put your muddy shoes in before getting back into the car. WARNING: the trail is not well marked so keep your maps out. There is one area where the trail forks, and there’s a very inconspicuous arrow pointing right that’s very easy to miss… we definitely missed it haha. The hike started to get very bush-wacky so we knew something was up and started to back track.

Finding the place was slightly difficult. The driver had on Apple maps that’s got us a little lost, but google maps got us there just fine! Parking is $10 and they do accept card.

Easy short dirt path walk to the falls. Probably take like 20-30 mins to get there depending your pace but nothing tricky. Just muddy and a little incline at the beginning and that’s it.

Two ways to get here, one is using the Old Pali Hwy road down from Pali lookout or the easier way starting at the bottom by the Koolau Ballrooms parking lot and walking up the trail.

Unfortunately parking there is not free anymore and is $10 bucks. Free option is to park on the side of the road before you enter the parking area and walk up.

If you start at the bottom, the falls is about a 10-15 minute hike. Just look for markers that will lead you to the right off the trail or ask people that you see. A nice hike for kids and dogs. A bit muddy at times so be forewarned. 4 stars.

The trail is often slippery due to the abundance of trees and moisture. There's a high risk of injury from falling or being impaled by branches. The path is not very long, but it's not easy due to the potential for accidents. Especially since the signage is poor, taking a wrong turn can lead to more difficulties. As other reviews have mentioned, underestimating this trail can lead to injuries. Like other waterfalls in Hawaii, expecting too much from the view of the waterfall itself might lead to disappointment. It's best to park at the golf course parking lot below, which costs $10.

Important trail guidance: turn left a few meters *before* the big round concrete tank thing that's covered in graffiti, onto the trail that goes uphill.

Do*not* take the trail on the far side of the tank, that then goes downhill. (The trail on the far side of the tank goes downhill relatively steeply and is slippery. Then it crosses a small creek and becomes suck-off-your-flip-flops muddy for a free dozen meters. Shortly after that it dead ends.)

Back to the correct trail: after you go uphill a ways you'll climb over the large fallen log where you turn right, as advised by other posts. There's a right arrow painted on a tree just past the fallen log, to confirm that you're turning in the right place.

Nikolas: Short, very pleasant hike through woodland with some magnificent sights including coats of trees, the waterfall itself and many of those trees with the wire like bark. I dare you to climb up, it is doable up to a point and quite enjoyable to hang up there. Hi Shaun, Hi Sana.

Lu: We really needed the map of the trail at a specific point where you have to make a turn and it's really not obvious (Nikolas: thanks alltrails and Lu for guiding us all). Be prepared to be bitten by mosquitos if you're like me and they love your blood, so maybe grab some repellent before going. The falls were really beautiful and I got really pretty pictures.
