This is one of the hardest hikes near Boise. Highly recommend to bring hiking sticks. Inclination is steep towards the top. Wear shoes with proper grips as the trails are very sandy. View is awesome along the hike. One can view the amazing Lucky Peak Reservoir with private boats cruising along from May onwards. Be extremely mindful as we have found snake along the trail.

Fantastic hike just outside of Boise. There is some tough elevation gain but a relatively short hike overall. Loved the views of the reservoir and snow dustings on surrounding features. If you are looking for a quick but challenging hike within 30 mins of downtown, this is a solid option.

It is my first trail in Idaho. Thanks to my friends who lend me their hiking poles and a tiny backpack I was able to give this a go. For context, I am not a frequent hiker but with much encouragement and interesting conversations we all made it out and back within 3 hours. THE VIEW IS WORTH IT. Mental and physical perseverance is REALLY REQUIRED. Please park at the trailhead, oh one more request the trail is so very clean, hence when you come please keep it this way. 🙂

This is a rigorous 2.2 mile hike within ~25 min. drive of downtown Boise. The view is basically unobstructed at the peak, but you've got to earn it! The trail becomes steep, levels off, steep, levels off, and on and on to the summit. It's particularly nice for sunsets, as there's little light pollution due to its distance from development and sprawl.

A great high intensity hike with a stunning view at the top. About 2,050 feet of elevation gain in this 4.65 mile round trip out and back trail. Takes about 2 hours if you are keeping a steady pace. Bring poles if you have them (especially if there is snow on the ground).

A fun but tough hike, especially when you are doing it with a 4-year-old. Even though it is short it is over 2 mi of straight up followed by 2 mi of straight down. Took us two hours to get up and 1 hour to get down but that was with us getting our 4-year-old to walk as much as he could but also carrying him.

Amazing Hike with great views! Make sure to bring lots of water with you as there are a lot of steeps, getting uphill is challenging and get a good pair of shoes as getting downhill can be tricky!
Even if you don't make it to the summit you can still enjoy amazing views!! But if you do you could take a picture with the banner at the summit and leave a note! 🙂

Date of hike on Monday, June 5: Trail is a steep incline from the get-go; sandy to start becoming more of compact dirt but not too dusty since no one was trail running. Beautiful views all the way and back! Weather was perfectly cool and cloudy starting at o7o1 and the sun finally greeting us on the way back down around o93o. Back at the gate by 1o3o. Definitely a regular hike I plan to do routinely to add on my workout and will attempt for a sunset hike soon👍
Saw a grouse (heard lots more) and a heart stopper for me--a black and white striped snakeyyy, aaaak!!!
