Not open for winter camping . All over the Internet it says this campground is open year-round. It is December I’ve called and left a message. As not to waste time because so many of our state and federal properties say they’re open year around and when you get there, they are closed. My guess is they have college graduates putting their websites together. State and federal websites are the worst informative things I’ve ever been on they tell you all about the things you don’t really care about . After a lengthy searching and then driving past the following day I see they are not open year around. Year around must mean something different to me than it does to state and federal campgrounds and their employees .after seeing this Campground it is definitely probably one of the worst campgrounds. I think I’ve ever seen. It is more like a parking lot in between the railroad tracks and the river with the zero privacy . Notice many of the camp spots are right on the railroad track, I actually measured from the railroad track to the campsites. The engineer of the train must laugh every time he rides by . The fire pits are 22 walking steps from the train track. You would have more peace camping in the baboon exhibit at the zoo then you would at this place.. take heed. Primitive camping experience.
It was my first time camping and I liked it. I like that it was grassy, comes with a table/site and how you can hear and feel the breeze of Mississippi river. I didn’t have to bring an airbed since it was comfy enough for me. There’s not much to do other than fish and go for a bike ride. There are nearby stores to get some gas and food and the they have a lot of bathrooms-$5/key and you rent it out or own it. It’s nice to just sit there and do nothing. I wish were allowed to have more than 1 tent/site since they were huge.

On the Mississippi River and conveniently located close to I-80. Gravel sites with electric and water. $24 for non county residents and includes all fees/taxes. Outstanding staff. No reservations. MTB trails across the street and the 60 some mile Great River paved recreational trail runs through the park. Great value and location makes up for the noise. Main line train track right across the river in Iowa. A busy road and spur train track next to the park. Plenty of room for dogs and kids. Boat ramp in the park. Great fishing and the nearby Lock and Dam #14. You can fish from the park but when the water is low (late summer and fall) it is difficult because of the shore line. This is the perfect place to camp if you are in the Quad Cities for an event. Easy access to all cities.

We have decades of visiting this camping location near the Mississippi River. The bathrooms have been updated, and the camp grounds are kept clean with playgrounds maintained. Our music was played which was heard by the office in the early evening time. We were informed of needing to turn it off. However, was not told in a professional manner. We would only need to be told to please turn off the speaker as loud music is not allowed. We would accept that and comply with the rule. Instead, the office responded with a sour attitude to turn off the music or we would need to leave. In addition to putting the speaker away from sight immediately.
This was all within the first notice to us for the music. I'm assuming there was a recent event where the staff had a group who had given them a hard time with turning off their music. I do feel for the staff if that had happened to the office recently as those aren't the most pleasant interactions with people. Regardless of past events, it could have been resolved in a better manner.

If someone violates a campsite rule, please initiate with a friendly demeanor while indicating what the issue is at hand. It allows the party a chance to comply and understand the issue at hand while respectfully adhering to the rules.

Confronting the problem with a sour demeanor only serves to create an uncomfortable atmosphere for both parties and those around us. This review isn't to insult the staff, but to ask for better communication when speaking in person to one another. Thank you.

Been coming here since I was little. There's nothing like waking up in the morning next to the Mississippi River with a cup of coffee. What a great place! Thank you for the hospitality and the memories!
