Such a beautiful place, but very badly damaged by the fire in 2020/2021, and a lot of the other trails are still closed. The park is doing a great job of restoring everything, but it’s definitely going to take many years for things to get back to normal. Though many of the redwoods are still standing, most have been burned and have lost their height and side branches, so you don’t get nearly the same experience as the area used to have. Absolutely worth visiting, but try one of the other parks for viewing unaffected old growth redwoods.

Awesome park, there are a lot of trails and hikes that stem from this park. FYI the surrounding region of the park, there is no parking so you have to pay 10 dollars to park inside of the state park. They also offer some water bottles for 3 dollars each. The main trails were well maintained while some other ones were under construction from previous storms or fires. Beautiful trees which of most have heavy outer burn from the recent fires. Beautiful place to take kids and have a picnic.

Easy to walk trail with lots of trees. Still recovering from the fires few years ago. Great to see all the trees starting to grow new branches and little trees start to grow.

The redwood loop trail has many old growth trees. They were badly damaged in a fire but are amazingly resilient with a lot of new growth. There are some trails open in the park, but the trails to the waterfalls are closed.

Back in March of 2023, I got the opportunity to assist in restoring this beautiful place with my crew from Lake Tahoe via the California conservation corps. I'd love to come and revisit someday, perhaps that day will be soon. Who knows?

Short and flat. Perfect for the littlest of kids. The entire loop has guide ropes making it easy to stay on the path.

The biggest trees survived. Definitely not as green as a few years ago but pretty amazing to see nature recover from devastating wild fires. Should be interesting to watch the change over the upcoming years.

Lots of trees looked damaged/dead after the fire 🙁
I also don't know how some of them are even standing still
