Great trails with varying levels of difficulty. I just finished a climb on June 26—it was a super hot day. We recommend using bug spray, wearing long pants, and regularly checking for ticks. Despite the heat, the forest canopy will keep you cool even on the hottest days. Go for the mountain top and take in the views. On the way down, visit the Hopkins Inn, about 5 miles away, for the most amazing food you've ever tasted. It's an Austrian restaurant that serves high-end American cuisine.

One of my favorite places for hiking.
You can see butiful wetland , nice river crossing your path caple off time, big open space , wooden lend when you hiking up and awesome view with beautiful lake on the horizon.

A small but very picturesque park with beautiful views of Lake Waramaug from "The Pinnacle" point. As you walk along the trail, you will cross a small stream with clean and cool water. There are several places where beavers have built their dams. You can see them when you cross the second bridge.

The trail crosses a spectacular meadow, in good weather, you can make great photos of it.

Part of the Steep Rock family of preserves Macricostas does not disappoint. From marsh to fields to mountain trails it offers a plethora of options. Cashew and I made it to the lookout at an elevation of 1,092 feet. It was a challenging trial and steep at points. Next time we’ll push on to Waramaug Rock.

It never disappoints....Great views from the Waramaug Rock, but also very pleasant journey through the new Red Trail (Boulder Trail). Clouds are always amazing there...or so it seems.

This is a public trail with a wonderful hike to a scenic overview. Washington is such a beautiful town. This is a well-maintained preserve. Please keep it that way.

An excellent place to hike. The best views you can get in the area. It is a moderate hike I would say. Great for a health dog. Children might get very tired. You can see clear into New York and Massachusetts on a really clear day.
