Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park - Flagler Beach, Florida

Jan 2025: Awesome trail from parking to ruins. 1/4 mile walk into ruins, so easy walking. $4 entry fee for those without state pass. Saw an armadillo which was great.

No hot water the whole week we were there. Other bathroom with hot water was up at the office and had tiny stalls. If anyone was taking a shower at the same time the water turned into a trickle and you had zero privacy to dry off and get dressed. We were told by maintenance people that if you booked with thousand trails you got the worst site. Which was pretty accurate. We came with friends and was supposed to be next to one another and they were put right next to where they were cutting a tree down. There were over 20 sites with sewer open and functioning but were not allowed to get those. Why Thousand Trails allows this campground as an addition to your membership is beyond me and everyone else we are camping next to. I will never book an Encore campground again, knowing that their policy is to put TT members in their worst spots.

I thoroughly enjoyed this small slice of history. The old mill is only so persevered, but there is a lot of information plaques about it. There is also an area with old tools and household items that are very well taken care of. I thought it was a great way to enjoy the outdoors and culture. I believe this area has a $4 'trust' payment. You put the cash in an envelope and get a tag to park, so make sure you have a bit of cash when you go. Overall a really nice place and interesting experience.

What a gorgeous day at a lovely park! We did a short hike in the northern section from the picnic area to the sugar mill ruins. The ruins were lovely to behold. There were restrooms and an interpretive display. Parts of the display could use updating.

Don't miss the little trail from the picnic area to the remains of the former slave cabins. It's tucked away in the back, but worth seeking. The entry to the 6 mile trail was closed due to storm damage.

We then drove to the southern parking lot. Clean park bathrooms, picnic tables, benches, and a gorgeous old live oak. Two trails - one is a short loop, and the other is the southern entrance to the 6 mile trail. We were not as hardy as we thought we were once the sun came out and the humidity kicked in. We got as far as Cedar Creek and are glad we got to see that! The view from the little foot bridge was amazing.

This place is so cool. It is so rich in history and a really good spot to test your photography skills. This park is basically in my backyard. It is definitely one of my favorite places I’ve seen so far.

A very cool historical state park. Such interesting (and not all pleasant) history. The ruins and their story are fascinating. There's also a nice recreational area. I came away with questions and hope to research this topic further. Well worth the visit.

My husband and I love our State Parks -and Bulow Plantation Historic Park can now be added to the list of great places to visit in FL!! It's off the beaten path for sure, but easy enough to find. There's a beautiful walking trail (maybe 1/4 mi), picnic tables by the creek, an area to launch (or rent) a kayak, restrooms inside a pavilion, and best of all...well preserved ruins of a Sugar Mill which began in 1831!!
There's also an interpretive pavilion which explains the inhabitants and even has some artifacts used on this plantation.
