Brasstown Falls is a beautiful series of varied falls in Oconee County. It is a bit of a hidden gem. I have visited during summer, snow, and ice, and it's just as beautiful every time. I'm surprised how few people know about this, so I'm always bringing people to check it out.

The trails are pretty navigable but could be a struggle for children or elderly. It's never crowded.

Only complaint is one set of stairs uses logs that are easy to slip off of if, and apparently the trail closes at some point due to damage from Hurricane Helene ~5 months ago, but it wasn't really clear where (in the snow at least), because I went all the way down. Also, do use the north road entrance, as other reviews will tell you. The directions from the south lead you to a road with a closed gate, and you have to add what feels like half an hour to your trip if you go the wrong way.

Note: when Googling directions. Access the falls from the North side. If you get directions coming in from the South the gate will be closed and locked. There’s a BBQ restaurant close to the falls that you can use as a reference.

Amazing series of waterfalls. 3 in total. Walk to falls are pretty simple and nothing strenuous.
On a Friday there were only 2 others there, very peaceful. Falls were beautiful and wading into the pools was super refreshing. Trail is well maintained clean.

Perfect quick hike and easy with kids with a great swimming area at the bottom! It was about 2-4 feet deep in a good wading area and amazing waterfalls. Had a great time and worth the trip! The road ends and turns to dirt for about a mile or so but it’s well maintained and easy to drive.

I’ve been to a lot of waterfalls in northern Georgia and now this one in SC and this is my favorite that’s I’ve seen so far. There is one to the left when you hit the fork that is beautiful and peaceful and a nice spot to sit and enjoy the quiet of nature. Then you can walk back to the fork and go to the right and you’re in for a treat of a gorgeous series of waterfall after waterfall. I read many reviews and some said it was strenuous but I don’t love hiking and this was not hard at all for me. I didn’t even get to a point of being winded at all. There are overlooks along the away and some downhills and uphills and you will get to a point where you have to go down stairs that are tree trunk treads that are rounded. They are tall steps too but just be slow going down and you’ll be just fine. I saw all age groups from little kids to older adults and dogs along the way. It’s not a long walk and there are so many great spots along the way to stop and enjoy and rest. There are some spots with roots so be careful as we saw someone who had sprained their ankle on the trail. Just be attentive and look where you are walking. The cove at the end is so spectacular to see. Once you drive and see it in its glory you’ll love it just as much as we did. What a great treasure to the area to have this spot. Parking had a decent amount of spots but on a Saturday it was full so we parked along the road with no problem.
We tried to use the trailhead pin on Google maps and it took us to a closed gate somewhere so we manually mapped to it by looking for the barbecue restaurant right outside the main road to get to the falls. If you have issues just navigate to the restaurant first.

Do NOT follow Google Map directions, that road is closed. We got some directions from some locals & after 45 minutes of winding mountain gravel trails we found it. Super short hikes to the first 2 spots. The 3rd was closed from Hurricane damage.

I've been visiting Brasstown for many years. Camping is no longer allowed. The forest service has placed signage to state this area is for day use only. This is a wilderness area. It is for you to observe nature. The whole area is much more accessible than it used to be. Which means more people visit and bring trash or leave dog poop. I even saw a baby diaper left beside the waterfall. The falls are beautiful, and the trail is so easy, but please respect this place and pack out your trash.

Easy walk, some stairs. Path was still blocked 12.8.24 past the second landing of the stairs front the storm.
