I'm a late starter thru hiking the AT and the Around The Bend outfitters still had lots of hospitality for little Ole me. Good food, great property, and knowledgeable staff with great products. Don't skip this hostel.

Gordon and his hiking store Around the Bend are absolutely amazing!!! My friend and I were in the area on a vacation and needed some ice cleats for a hike in the smokies. Around the bend had exactly what we were looking for, and we also picked up some warm hiking clothes for the trip as well. There was a good selection of layered clothes and it had a good price.

Most importantly, however, we asked if there was a nearby mechanic who could look at our car for a loose splash guard on our undercarriage, after we struck a tire on the road. Gordon said he could maybe look at it and help us out. He proceeded to reattach this to our car with some tools for a while. Jacking our car, putting in loose screws and duck taping the area so we could enjoy our hike and not have car issues on our trip. Gordon is a great, kind man and we thank you for your help. Come to this store and stay at this hostel if you’re thru hiking the AT. You’ll meet Gordon and will not be disappointed.

I’ve through hiked the AT and repeated many sections. Stayed at lots of hostels. This place is fantastic/ one of my new favorites. The hosts are amazing and really understand hikers. Excellent outfitter/resupply options on the premises. Plenty of comfortable common areas and you can bunk it or get a private room. Very close to the trail!!! Shuttles to town, for slack packing or whatever. I’m sure I will be planning hikes in their area just because I’ll be able to stay there. Check them out!

My dog “Dot” and I (struggle-bus) stayed one night, but wish we could have stayed longer! Beautiful property and cozy accommodations. The around the bend crew were as kind as they were helpful, and quickly made me feel at home. The grand room is warm and inviting with picturesque views of the north Georgia mountains. The relaxed hiker-family environment made it easy to meet many new, and experienced, hikers from all over the world. Free laundry with loaner clothes available made it super quick and easy to check that off the list.

ATB staff are Knowledgeable, passionate hikers who are willing to help. From personal pack shakedowns, to hiker boxes, and expert advice, The resources to maximize the quality of your hike are plentiful at ATB. They could also set you up with a variety of high-quality, and affordable hiking gear brands with their on-site outfitter.

Great outfitter with the things you need and nothing you don’t. There to take care of the hiker with really reasonable prices for gear (less than other places). Definitely worth stopping by!
