I contacted Morgan outdoors earlier this year about a small landscaping project I wanted to have done. They directed me to Zach Graystone of Graystone Landscaping. The individual at Morgan outdoors has nothing but great things to say about Zach. I was excited to support a small business owner and have help in taking on the project we wanted to do. Zach was very communicative in the beginning. Sadly after the project was “completed” we discovered issues with the work he performed.
- The area that he was asked to cover with the rock we chose wasn’t completely covered. He asked for additional money to obtain more rock. My husband and I redistributed the rock already in the area and we were able to cover all that we wanted Zach to cover from the beginning. So was he really going to seek more rock or was he just going to take our money and do what my husband and I did?
- The rubber border around the rocks was not secured with the appropriate number of spikes and within 1-2 weeks of the project being “done” the border began to give way and distort from its original placement with use of the pathway and area. When confronted about this issue and provided images of the issue, Zach’s response was defensive and argumentative. His response was that the border only came with so many spikes to secure it and again he needed additional money or he’d be paying out of pocket to obtain the correct number of spikes that the border required. This was the second time I was being requests to provide more money outside of the original projects estimate that was provided. To me, this demonstrated a lack of planning on his part. When initially laying down this border and working on this project, why not communicate with us while it was being laid down and discovering the issue at that time? Instead he ignored the project’s needs and allowed his work to be incomplete and leave his clients with a very unprofessional looking landscape project.
-Last but not least. Within a month of this project being “complete”, a large amount of weeds and grass have sprung up through the rocks and mulched areas. It looks horrible and I am beyond upset at how much we paid to have this project done by a professional.

This wasn’t a small expense. This was a LARGE expense for my husband and I that we had hoped had been a great investment into a local small business owner that came highly recommended by one of our local businesses. We happily paid for this project but are left with an incomplete and now very weed/grass overtaken landscape.

In an attempt to seek Zach’s assistance to correcting the issues with the grass and weeds, we have contacted him. Initially he said he would stop by and spray the areas. Then he didn’t show and when asked if he planned to come,he informed my husband he was a couple days behind. Patiently we waited. Unfortunately he never showed. And now he has resorted to ignoring all attempts to contact him from my husband and I both trying to seek a resolution.

I feel strongly that this project’s issues and shortcomings falls heavily not only on Zach Graystone but also Morgan Outdoors. I feel helpless and unsure who to trust for help with seeking resolution for this project and any future projects we want to invest in. I fear that my husband and I will never be provided with communication from Zach and sadly feel that since he’s been paid in full, he is basically washing his hands of us and any of our issues with his poorly provided work.

What an absolute let down as new members of this community and what a completely disheartening first time investment made to improve our yard and home.

We recently had an install of an outdoor fireplace from Morgan Outdoors. Scott reviewed the site location on a Monday, we paid for it on Tuesday and it was delivered and installed on Wednesday. When M. O. says they're going to do something, they follow through. Customer service like this is rare to find these days. Scott was great to work with!
