Kapilina Beach Homes is trash. The only good thing about KBH is Shayna. If you decided to rent here ask for her and she’ll make the move in process amazing. We love her. After that though, everything goes down hill. The unit was in shambles. There are so many things that should have been in order before we moved in. The number of maintenance requests we put in was insane. The walls are paper thin. Like nail something in the wall and the nail will go through. See pictures. We had a sprinkler facing our wall that basically deteriorated the wall inside and out, it was also by an outlet. See pic. Dangerous! Had some rain and the sliding glass doors must not have been sealed properly because that caused a leak in the house. See pic. Oven was never properly sealed and caused out cabinets to melt. See pic. ALL OF THIS WAS REPORTED AND MAINTENANCE REQUEST WERE MADE. Only half were fixed. We were now given our lease renewal and they have the audacity to raise the rent $300+ with these issues still here!!!!! Good luck to whoever moves in next and your welcome for us getting half of the unit fixed (cause they wouldn’t have done it for you before you moved it). Kapilina Beach Homes should be ashamed of itself. “If you put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig.”

I lived here from 2015 - 2018 while stationed on island. The homes were newly renovated and looked nice. I never had any major issues with the property management or facilities. The house was nice (didn’t like the constant bugs though), made lifelong friends from my neighbors, and loved living one block from the beach! The neighborhood beach is not the nicest on island, however, it is still nice and so close. This property was constantly hosting community events from concerts, paint parties, food truck events, movies etc. very family friendly, you know da kine. The neighborhood fitness center was very nice and kept clean. Having a dog park and gas station/shoppette was convenient too. If you’re moving to O’ahu and looking for a great community to rent in, you should consider Kapilina! 🤙🏽

I lived here for 7 years. It's really nice, spacious, and pet friendly, but I'm not sure if we are staying another year due to an outrageous increase in rent! Facilities are not always kept clean or working, probably. Especially the hot tub, whirl pool, and splash pad. Always have problems with power outages! It would be sad if we have to move next year due to another outrageous rent increase 😔

I moved here in august 2023 and lived here until November 2024 in a 3 bed 2 bath domicile. I knew this was old military housing moving here but appreciated the amenities and how pet friendly the community was which is hard to find in Hawaii. When moving in I asked how much i could expect utilities to be and the agent said between $200-300. This proved to be the case. Fast forward through my first month of living here i realized the windows did not fully close meaning bugs ranging from roaches, centipedes, lizards (that defalcate everywhere) and ants frequently get inside the homes. A centipede even stung my dog and had to take her to the vet with her face swollen like a giant football. The floors hold so much dirt you’ll never be able to get them clean even when you scrub the same spot for hours then add in the fact these are seriously aging domiciles to the point the paint literally started to fall and peel off the ceilings and walls. Additionally, crimes began to increase issues all over the local school if you have kids and section 8 housing is officially a thing here.

What does kapilina do after bringing all of this to their attention!? Upcharge rent the following year by increasing rent by $250 then steadily increasing utility bills in 2024 from $200-300 a month all the way to over $860 for just electricity alone bringing the entire utility bill to around $1200 a month with rent it put us just shy of $4800 for a single month!!! I just moved and am SOOOO grateful that I did! Even though i turned off the electric for over half the month and discussed it with the tech that came to inspect the home who said he would leave it off they still had the odasity to charge us $860 for an entire months utilities we didn’t even use!!! This place is a walking lawsuit and a scam. The community has even reached out to congressional representatives to assist with relief due to the utility costs. I know its hard to find somewhere thats pet friendly but PLEASE do yourself a huge favor and stay far away from this place. I truly feel bad for the people that still live there because they refuse to address the root causes of issues aka windows that dont close and then for overcharging on utilities they kick it around like its a football to the navy or heco who then kick it back to kapilina. Living here was anything but resort style living it was a living nightmare.

Kapilina Beach homes are a perfect home if you’re looking for a safe community, a beach getaway, and a beautiful home ALL in one. I love this community and I would live here forever if I could. 10 out of 10 WOULD recommend.

We love our apt., its wonderful views, lawns and trees, close beach and Community Center access all beautifully appointed and maintained. The employees are all courteous and seem sincerely interested in our positive experience. As seniors, we don't have to travel to another part of the Island to enjoy beauty; we just walk out from our patio.
