Audubon-Pennington Nature Park is a little island in the middle of a a neighborhood. The main trail is pretty wide, but just dirt. There are many trees down from the many hurricanes we’ve had over the last few years. There are many side trails, which are pretty narrow through groves of oak trees and vast areas of ferns. there are many native plants and trees which are labeled on signs.
I saw some muscovy ducks and the vultures were circling me.

Awesome little trail. Shaded with trees, lots of life and little lizards sunning on the trails so watch your feet!

This tiny peninsula park is a tropical oasis in the middle of Port Charlotte suburbia. The tree canopy here provides some much needed shade. Takes about 15 minutes to walk around it, but you can stretch it to 30 minutes if you include the side trails. This is truly a well-hidden gem.

By the way, kudos to the local volunteers that manage and maintain this park. It’s the perfect balance of walkability and conservation.

Great place to go for a short hike! There's different trails you can take and they are well marked!

Pros:
- Great vegetation and variety of plants to see ?
- Possible to see wildlife (butterflies, birds, squirrels etc.)?
- Free parking space
- Quiet and relaxing ?

Cons:
- Didn't see a bathroom ?
- Parking lot seems busier than the trails ...

Beautiful nature trail situated on its own little island almost. Trail has benches along the way to take small breaks and it's heavily grown with ferns and other flora, most of which is marked for identification. At the end is a clearly labeled swamp but there is a path to avoid it if wet ground isn't your forte. Really enjoy coming here. Small parking lot and no restrooms. Go before you show up! Definitely recommend. Trail is pretty short maybe a half of a mile.

This is a beautiful quiet park with such beautiful vegetation. It contains several ecosystems. Some of the paths have roots, so you must be careful walking.

What an absolutely stunning little park. The trail is 3/4 of a mile, but you can certainly get more by taking all of the turns inland. There are a variety of habitats, including, but not limited to, to a cypress swamp, flat hardwoods, and a freshwater canal. Plenty of wildlife calls this their home. A bird sanctuary with houses and a bath are seen near the edge of the paved trail. This oasis is in the middle of a Port Charlotte neighborhood. Many signs can be found throughout, guiding one with directions along their hike, as well as labels for the plants. Trails can get narrow in some sections. Look out for the invasive Caesar Weed that will try to stick to you and your pets. When approaching the swamp, watch your step around the cypress knees. Benches to rest and enjoy the beauty can be found in a few locations. Fishermen can find several access points to the waterway surrounding the park. There's an awesome solar compacting trash bin in the parking area. One other bin is located at the end of the paved trail, along with a bench and a cigarette butt bin. The park could use an outhouse, picnic area, and monofilament bins. Beyond the paved area, it is not an ADA friendly trail. A sign out front says no pets, but there were several families walking dogs.
