Went for a pair of walking boots having researched the brand i wanted. The shop was busy but they willingly spent time to measure and advise on size then left me to try different styles. No pressure sales just friendly service V inpressed

We drive 170 miles, from Wales, to get expert advice from these very patient and knowledgeable staff.
They have all the gear and all the idea!
Been skiing for 40 years and coming here for six years and would no longer shop anywhere else. Also good for walking shoes, rucksacks etc. Have also purchased insoles that have been moulded to my feet - worth every penny.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Just give them a try.

Excellent service. I turned up without an appointment and they squeezed me in. I have very wide feet and they have a fantastic selection, way better than any of the chains.

If you are travelling a distance, try to plan to go to the café next door, and/or Betty's in Ilkley 🙂

Amazing service, I had a boot fitting and then offered several different options. The knowledge from the staff was excellent and the service was 1st class.
I would highly recommend and will definitely use for for next pair of walking boots.

Amazing service! you don't feel rushed and they are very knowledgeable. They help you to find the perfect fit no matter how long it takes. I have talipes so have wide flat feet, their Meindl Sulden and Meindl Meran both fit perfectly I've never been able to find a shoe or boot that fits as well as they do until now! They also do a wide range of ski and climbing gear such as fall mats and hiking rucksacks

I would highly recommend Backcountry. I bought a new pair of Scarpa walking shoes last week. They fit perfectly and are so comfortable. The staff were very helpful and took time to make sure I made the right choice. Thankyou Backcountry.
