Expansive preserve with plenty of trails. Unfortunately, when I visited in July 2024 some of the Walnut Trail was flooded requiring a lot of backtracking to get back to the Outer Loop Trail. There were also a couple of trees down blocking some paths. Definitely recommend a lot of bug spray.

Beautiful forest preserve. There is a nice balance of prairie and wooded areas. Well maintained grass path through the outer loop.

Great sledding hill. And walking the paths were so beautiful. My only complaint would be not enough parking

This is a pretty great place to hike if it's not wet. There are a lot of cross paths to take to make it more of an adventure for kids. There's also an okay sledding hill.

I took 1 star off because there is usually a lot of horse poop scattered around the trail.

Very beautiful forest preserve with mowed trails and interesting side trails. Hills, meadows, forest, and a lake in a pretty large preserve. Only 3 stars because there are no directional signs and the intersections are NOT MARKED. And there are LOTS of intersections! The map holder at the parking kiosk was empty too! The preserve management should be ashamed. Honestly, you need a downloaded map and a GPS in order to not get lost if you are a first-time hiker.

Love this place. But as of 07/21/23 we have been trying to ride there. The gates have been locked. This is the second time. It is very inconvenient when all they have to do is put it as CLOSED on their website. Calls to the office go un answered/returned.

Great trails to walk and wasn't crowded during late morning hours. Just have to watch for the horse piles along the way. Have good boots for muddy patches.
