My wife and I visited Montana 2 weeks ago and found Carter's just outside downtown Bozeman. The service was great! The people there were so friendly and helpful. We each bought a paid of boots that we loved and they even shipped them home for us so we didn't even have to pack them for the flight home.
Highly recommend going there if you visit Bozeman!!

One pair I had to do an exchange for a wider pair. When I called to ask for one. They were friendly and understood what I was looking for.

The new location for Carter's (west on Huffine just past Reseller and just prior to the Antiques Market) takes everything great about their downtown location and doubles it. Same great service, but now the available selection of boots and Westernwear has expanded significantly.

I believe I met Mr. Jeff Carter while dropping off two pairs of old Kenetreks for repair/modifications. We shared a firm handshake and brief conversation. He seems like a stand-up man and business owner.
I explained to Mr. Carter my need for flat soles following a work accident that left me with half a foot on my right side.
Kenetreks have always been my go to boots for hunting. I purchased a pair of steel toe Linemans for work in order to get more ankle support to offset the lack of toes. Unfortunately the taller heel made hiking, hunting and work, uncomfortable and painful, even with custom orthotics shaped for my stub. Carters Boots understood my request and knocked the modifications out of the park. These boots had a lot of miles on them and were not pretty. I got back, basically, zero drop boots with new flat soles, new rubber bonded to well treated leather, new laces and overall the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. The quality of their workmanship is outstanding! Their service and problem solving is top notch. I highly recommend especially if you are looking for modifications to footwear and are in a simar situation that I am in. Finding supportive boots for all day comfort has been a daunting task. Carters has made it seamless and pleasant.

Hey so took my keens in to get the tread replaced. The tread got replaced. But the top of my boots are separated and would think guy would get them back in better condition then you left them in. Was kinda disappointed also they didn't clean the out side of the boot.i don't mean buffed and polished but at least wash off and dry then.well probably will never return or recommend.

Picked up a set of boots that they put new soles on.great job. Also an amazing selection of new boots.

The boots they offer are of decent quality, but their customer service is lacking. They take far too long to respond to email threads, and sometimes they don’t answer all of your questions. It took about a month and a half to two months just to get store credit after returning a defective boot. Overall, I’m not impressed with their customer service.

Additionally, they are severely understocked in sizes—WAY UNDERSTOCKED.

Their filter and search system is also poor quality. There’s no way to search by in-stock sizes, so you have to click on every single boot to see if it’s available in your size. Very frustrating.

Not the worst experience, but definitely not the best.
