Let me start out by saying I have very flat feet and a lot of problems with them. My whole life I have spent 1000's on inserts and special shoes that were supposed to help, I gave up. I found an OK shoe and just suffer through it.

Recently my wife and I started hiking a LOT. Its now our hobby and I was struggling so I thought about trying to find a good hiking boot to go check out all those great CT trails.

We were told about Fred at a festival earlier this year and decided to give him a try.

He was professional, knowledgable and a pleasure to work with this problem through. He was patient and understanding.

We tried a few, he let me do extensive walking tests to find the right fit. We found one I liked and he helped pick out a high quality insert designed to help folks with problems like mine.

Fred took the time to explain the technology behind the shoes and and inserts and explained how they worked and gave us a few tips.

Now I waited a few weeks to write this review as I wanted to see how I would enjoy the shoes after the purchase as this has bit me in the butt so many times previously.

I have to say they are by far the most comfortable thing my horrendous feet have ever had the pleasure of walking in. I am now going 5+ miles a day without issues and only growing stronger.

Thank you Fred, you were wonderful and did a great job helping me! We have used them like 10x already and no regrets. Worth every penny.

Offered personal sizing consultation and found out may actual foot size. Metered parking in the front (city afterall) fast service. Classic: walk ?‍♂️ in, get sized, test fit shoe, buy shoe, and walk out. Just a few minutes.

This guy knows boots ! He's very very knowledgeable with all thing to do with feet and what kind of work you do and how that affects your feet. Just got a new pair of Thorogood steeltoes only 1 day ago but they are molding to my feet perfectly . Definitely go here for some expert advise on shoes.

Got boots from here 3-4 weeks ago. I figured out I had two different sized feet so the man there helped put an insert into one shoe. also he only made me pay for one of the inserts which I greatly appreciated. They work great as I'm on my feet in a warehouse 7 hours a day. Id highly recommend going here if you want a good fit for shoes and boots he knows what he's doing.

My husband is on his feet for long hours and wears through his boots. He has had issues with his feet from work. We saw Fred and got the Steel Blue with steel toe and locking side zipper. My husband said it was comfortable as soon as he put it on and probably won't need to "break" them in like usual. Fred was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond with customer service. Very professional and thorough. We added a protective coating to the front, "tough toe", to help preserve the life of the shoe. My husband can't wait to start wearing the boots tomorrow. Will definitely recommend this place to everyone and we'll be back.

I bought my first pair of work shoes there about 4 months ago. I stand on a concrete floor a majority of the day. I was having some lower back pain and pain in my right foot as the ground is uneven where I stand. I explained all this to the owner and he recommended a pair of thorogood work shoes. I did try a few others on, but these stuck with me as the ones I wanted. Being made in America was a HUGE plus to me. Within 2 weeks my body pain was gone. I cannot recommend enough the care he takes for his customer. I returned today as there was some stitching coming undone in a unique place on the shoe to see what his thoughts were. He applied a very strong epoxy to the area to seal it and while it began to set he cleaned up some loose stitches for me as well. To me this is why I try my hardest to shop local. This level of knowledge and customer care only comes from a locally owned business that knows you create customers for life by treating then fairly.
