An absolutely beautiful experience that I hope to have again someday soon. The trail itself is magnificent and a really good hike. The waterfall makes you want to spend all day there exploring the surrounding areas and seeing all the incredible sights and wildlife and fauna.

Fairly moderate hike to get to the falls. What a place to get lost in nature. A little difficult for a dog. Totally worth the drive.

Crabtree Falls is wonderful and one of the more dramatic falls in this area with about a 150 foot drop. The trail to get there is not long, but can be challenging with many roots, rocks a steep decline and three steep sets of stone stairs which have sturdy railings. I have done this hike about a dozen times always as a loop. It's about a half a mile longer, but easier coming back up and out. Going in bear to the right and take the shorter way down to the base of the falls.

If I can do it you can too. This hike is listed at moderate/strenuous. I was a little nervous but went for it with my dog. It's a rugged path. Plenty wide and well marked you can't get lost. I'm fat and my dog is chunky and it was definitely some exercise but well worth it. Great views. Lots of steps. We went right (counterclockwise) but it's the same either way. You need to go down to the falls and then back up. Take your time. Enjoy the hike.

Crabtree Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway was wonderful. It’s close to a 2.5 miles round trip hike to the falls from the trailhead. It took us around an hour for the round trip hike.

Going down, it’s around a mile and coming back it’s around 1.5 miles. Going to the falls is easier than the trip back which can seem moderate to strenuous because of the uphill hike. There are some pretty sights along the way, and the terrain is for the most part, rugged. The hike to the falls is dog friendly, and they’re required to be on a leash.

Overall, it’s a pretty waterfall on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and one worth stopping and hiking to. We loved visiting this waterfall.

Great hike from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The hike in is moderate 0.8 mile but the hike out isc1.25 miles at at least a 400 ft incline. This is not a good hike for handicapped people or people with small children.
