The lakes orange trail is an awesome and easy hike. There are a couple of options and I'll take you through The watershed area and on the west and north side of the lakes. If you want to hike all the way around the lake you're going to need some knee-high boots. It's still too wet and marshy right now. On the far Northeast corner of the two lakes you'll get to see a bunch of three and 4-ft Gators out there mostly in the water. Keep your dog on a leash and you'll have absolutely no problem. As soon as you get within 50 yd of a gator sunning on the shore, it'll scoot back into the water and swim away. Very well marked rails with nice birding and views of pine flat woods, oak hammocks, wet prairies and Cypress forests.

Accidentally came upon this area.. it's quiet and tranquil compared to everywhere else.. I will say it's probably not my favorite place to visit in the summer heat but would be awesome this fall when the temps make it easier to explore and enjoy

Well marked and maintained trail that provides excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, especially during the cooler months. A reliable location to see many migratory songbirds and Florida regulars. Springtime and summer are also excellent times to see many butterflies, although sections of the trail will be wet. A small lake by the trailhead provides excellent opportunities to see herons, egrets and many other wading birds up-close.

Great hiking area, in wet season trails are limited to 3 sides of lake 1 and only the north side of lake 2. Many alligators, raccoons, deer and birds. Rough road leading to small parking area with porta-potty.

It's a nice trail.
Before rainy season is a dry a full of tall trees. On rainy season all the trails o the area get under water due to the water shed, this area is me6to be under water , the water raises up 2 feet on some areas

This time of year at peak rainy season lot of water and lots of Florida s state birds flying around a biting you AKA swamp skeeters
