Beautiful trail though, as Scots tourists, we did find the altitude a little tricky. Go early before it gets too busy!

Amazing summer trail- very scenic. Start early, take extra water, prepare for some rocky portions.

The perfect summer trail for hiking with your dog. Up the mountain it is about 20 degrees cooler than in Flagstaff. Beware that it sits at 9000 ft if you are not used to elevation. We got there at 8.30 and had the trail pretty much to ourselves at 60F. Really enjoyed the fresh air, birds singing, deer and the beautiful trees, their shapes and shade.

Nice, undulating trail..both ways. So, a better workout than expected. Beautiful Aspens with fall colors. Great trail just to be in nature's beauty.

We went to the trail’s half point and back today - a round trip of about 5 miles. This trail is relatively flat as it follows the contour of the south face of the San Francisco Peaks at the elevation of around 9,000 feet. Because of the trail’s rolling nature and a very small drop end-to-end it is walkable and could be enjoyed by both casual and experienced hikers of all ages alike. It will take you through the high forest and sloping meadows and about 2.5 miles in will afford you a panoramic view over Flagstaff. It was definitely worth the 3 hours we spent today on this hike.

Other than Bigfoot almost having his way with me, beautiful place. Don’t go into the woods alone or unarmed. Preferably a high powered rifle.

Beautiful and lots of spots with shade, even later in the morning. High elevation, didn't even realize quite how high, but the trail starts a little over 9000ft elev. Be aware! While very easy in terms of being a trail with very little changes throughout in elevation and no steep areas, and it's a lot less rocky than many trails in AZ (lots of roots from the aspens and pines in the trail though), this trail may still feel kind of challenging in terms of breathing through it. Love all the trees, pretty flying bugs, for sure there's tons of wildlife near early morning and dusk, but I don't hike those hours. Enjoy!

Gorgeous family walk through a shaded combination of Aspen and evergreen trees. The trail can get a little rocky and stumbly so I wouldn't recommend this for older family members. Our young children did fine with a little help, though.

The whole trail spans over 6 miles and is not a loop, so with a four and seven-year-old we went about a half mile and a half mile out.

Early October is not necessarily the greatest time for fall colors, but there were a lot of yellow leaves peppered throughout, as the leaves had started to fall. We saw a lot of chipmunks and squirrels, large logs, and big rocks to scramble on.

On a side note, the trail is mostly dirt and soft, so it seems like a good place to jog or run.

We will definitely be back!
