Kauaʻi Hiking Tours - Koloa, Hawaii

My Honolulu-based family was looking to do a day trip to Kauai, an intimidating task as we didn't know much about the island. Kauai Hiking Tours provided the exact tour that we wanted to make a short trip extra special.

From booking to the end of our tour, they were super accommodating of preferences and needs, picking and dropping us off at the airport and letting us call the shots of what we wanted to do for the day.

Our guide, Nick, was very knowledgable about Kauai and took us to some remarkable spots to check out – many that were a bit off the beaten track. Nick helped us develop a deeper sense of appreciation for the island, from its unique geological features to its history and culture. It's one thing to see Kauai's natural beauty, it's another to really understand what makes it such an incredible place.

Highly recommend this tour if you're looking to go around with a local guide! Gave us some great times and special memories.

Jess was such a fantastic guide on the Kuilau Ridge Trail. Her enthusiasm was infectious and her knowledge of native Hawaiian and invasive plants was extensive. I learnt so much but not too much that it was overwhelming. Jess was patient and more than happy for us to hike at our own pace.
This is a fantastic way to meet like minded travelers and to gain a hiking buddy when your travelling solo like I am.
The whole experience was effortless, thank you Jeremiah and the team for a fantastic day out. It truly made Kauai that little more special.

We hiked the Awa’awapuhi Trail with Jess yesterday, and it was such an incredible experience. We met at a cute little coffee shop and had some breakfast before starting on our adventure. Jess took us up the canyon road and stopped along the way for us to site see and take pictures, all the while telling us cool stories and bits of history. We made it to the trail head around 9:30 and started hiking in. We made pretty quick time hiking in because 90% of the trail was downhill. Jess was great about pointing out different plants and things as we hiked, and we even got to try some wild local fruit she found for us (strawberry guava and Indian raspberries).
When we arrived at the cliff’s edge, she was awesome about giving us some direction on how we should get to the bottom. She also got some fantastic pictures for us!
Going up was much slower than coming down, and we took several breaks. The patience and encouragement was much appreciated.
After all the cardio, Jess took us to a beautiful scenic picnic spot to eat our much-deserved lunch.
Next time we visit Kauai, we will most definitely be reaching out to Jess and Kauai Hiking Tours to take us on another adventure!

Short: stunning views, highly informative, great guide (Asher) who took care of the groups needs, level of fitness adjusted to the group, definitive highlight of our Kaua'i visit --> 5+ outta 5!!

Long: the two of us joined a group tour guided by Asher who was a welcoming guy right from the start. We were taken up to the trailhead by him. On our way up he explained a lot of things concerning the island of Kaua'i and answered all of our questions.
The hiking itself was highly informative due Asher explaining the plants and fruits on our way. We even picked quite a lot of them - the more obvious ones as well as the ones you'd not expect to be eatable which were tasty as well! At the end of the trail we walked a ridge of the Napali coast which offered views I'm lacking to find appropriate words to describe their beauty!

Though that would've been already a fair deal we afterwards did a short hike to some more of most favored spots and views of the Kōkeʻe State Park - again just jaw dropping views.

Even on our way back to the meeting point we did some short stops I wouldn't even have noticed and otherwise would've just drove by.

To sum that up we had nothing short but an absolute highlight day thanks to our guide Asher and got supported with more tips what else to do on the island after the tour than we had time to.

Booking process was uncomplicated, responsive and fast.

Lang: wir haben uns zu zweit einer Gruppe angeschlossen, die von Asher geführt wurde. Er hat uns am Treffpunkt direkt herzlich begrüßt und uns dann zum Startpunkt der Wanderung gefahren. Dabei wurden uns bereits allerlei Dinge zu Kaua'i erzählt und Fragen beantwortet.
Die Wanderung selbst war sehr informativ, da er auf dem Weg alle möglichen Pflanzen und Früchte erläutert hat. Von diesen haben wir dann auch einige gepflückt und gegessen. Sowohl die eher offensichtlichen als auch solche, von denen man nicht mal vermutet hätte, dass sie essbar wären. Am Ende des Trails wanderten wir auf einem Kamm der Napali Küste. Die Aussicht war unbeschreiblich schön; wirklich schwer in Worte zu fassen!

Obwohl das bereits ein fairer Deal gewesen wäre haben wir uns danach noch weitere der wichtigsten/beliebtesten Aussichtspunkte mit wiederum wahnsinnig tollem Panorama im Kōkeʻe State Park angesehen.

Selbst auf dem Rückweg haben wir noch kurze Stops eingelegt, an denen ich ansonsten einfach unwissentlich vorbei gefahren wäre.

Fazit: Dank unseres Guides war die Tour ein absolutes Highlight für uns! Wir haben auch noch weitere Tipps für unseren Aufenthalt bekommen, die wir letztlich nicht mehr alle umsetzen konnten...

Die Buchung war unkompliziert und hat schnell reagiert. Im Zweifel einfach eine Mail schreiben - so haben wir es zumindest gemacht.

My family booked two hiking tours with Jeremiah and Andrew, and both of them were outstanding and very knowledgeable tour guides. They customized the tour to fit our needs and interests which made the experience more memorable than all of the hikes we have done in Hawaii.

This hike was a big highlight for our family vacation. Jeremiah picked a hike that was beautiful and rewarding. He also clearly considered all participants' abilities. If you're going to walk and drive around with someone for the day, it should be this guy! Way knowledgeable and very cool.

Thank you Patrick for spending most of the day hiking the Sleeping Giant and a couple local falls! We had the best time! Although my wife and I could have hiked this on our own we thoroughly enjoyed the added benefit of Patrick's knowledge, friendship and insight. I look forward to doing another hike with Patrick again!
