This was a really nice trail with loads of highlights. You can keep it as long or as short as you want to, because it is not a loop. The scenery is amazing. Enjoy and bring water with you!

Amazing trail.

Recommend closed-toed shoes, plenty of water and snacks. Not much shade after the initial shore walk so coverings and sunscreen are important.

Avoid going off trail whenever possible or stick to obvious cut outs.

The lava rock is very sharp so keep an eye on the kids.

Leave the wildlife alone, leave the rocks, shells, and leave no trace.

Absolutely stunning views through the lava fields. About 2 miles through to the first beach area. A few trails off towards the shore towards tiny beach spots. Bring lots of water. Around each bend is a view more beautiful than the last.

Wonderful hike out to light tower. Beautiful woods and ocean views as you pass through volcanic fields. Can be hot on a windless warm day.

Although it doesn’t have a steep incline it’s still a tricky walk in most areas. Wear shoes not sandals. The views are pretty cool.

Nice hike with some interesting and varied scenery. Bring extra water and preferably good hiking boots; the lava rocks are loose and a sprained ankle will ruin what's left of your day.

The road starts as rugged rocky trail of lava stones… turns into lava mixed with coral as it hugs the southern coast.
Few sandy/beachy spots along the way. Mostly hikes with amazing landscape views.

Cool hike through a lava field. Nothing there on the actual kings highway except lava and some cute goats. Don't try in flip flops. Go in the early am at sunrise to see tons of monarch butterflies on the beach.
