Very enjoyable single file trail, mostly wooded and in the shade! We didn’t have any issues with poison ivy. There is the occasional poison ivy in the woods, none on the trail. As far as I know, Virginia creeper don’t do anything anyway and we didn’t see much of that either. Since we had rain just before there were a few spots that were a little slippery. Nothing bad though. When you get to the bike trail and cross the lake, that’s where you won’t have shade for a few minutes. The bike trail is paved. Once you get to the loop trail it’s all shaded again with nice views of the lake. We skipped the inner loop and took the shortcut as it got late. No bugs at all! We really enjoyed this trail.

It's been raining so the trail is quite muddy but still was a pleasure to walk. We had the trail to ourselves for about 95% of the time we were out there. Loved every second of it, and made it to the bridge in time to watch the sunset.

Good spot for trail running. South of the bridge is +/- 1.5 mile loop. East-west trail is one mile point-to-point that butts up to bike trail.

The shorter West Lick Trail is accessed by passing the Road Closed sign and crossing a bridge. As opposed to the map, the trail branches all over the place, but all paths end up at a dead end or back at the starting point, so explore. I walked this trail, but it looks well maintained for mountain biking. The round trip is about 1.5 miles.
