Steve, his family and staff are great. They know this area really well and what works and what doesn't. The shop only carries quality gear. I still use stuff I've bought here 15 years ago. It's always the first stop when my family needs something for the outdoors.

Great selection of fly fishing equipment. Staff and owner are extremely helpful. We booked a 1/2 day fly fishing guided trip and it was the best experience we all had. Great teachers and guides and fun guys to be out on the water with. Highly recommend!

I rented a pair of snowshoes this past Saturday. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable - providing me with first-hand experience of the hike - Mount Abraham. Adjusting the equipment needed based on the trail conditions. It was an excellent experience and very reasonable price. Thank you.

This is an amazing store, great selection and quality products, but the best part is how friendly they are. The entire staff is willing to help and answer questions and the owner goes above and beyond. Can't say enough great things about the Mountaineer.

This is a great sports store - with both wonderful men and women's outdoor clothing and shoes for a variety of sports and seasons - as well as good fishing and adventure gear. When I am on the Western side of Vermont on Route 7 - and shopping in Middlebury at the Food Co-op - I love stopping in here.
