Another hike i did before (2019). This hike is not for anyone and one of the dangerous hikes if you attempt to do all the last peak (The third peak). The first peak is moderate the second peak is hard and the last peak is extreme that means rope climbing your way down to the ground then straight incline up the rocks to the top. Usually hiker with no fear in heights or have rock climbing experience gets to hike the third peak that’s why majority of the hikers end there journey at the second peak but stopping there has the best view of the hike itself. Keep in mind there’s people injured or fall to their death while attempting to rope climb the last peak so don’t attempt if you’re not ready and don’t go over your limits there. Overall only hike it twice while I was stationed there and it was an experience to do all the three peaks and the breathtaking view of the leeward Oahu side. As of now, they put the sign of the history of hikers that died after the first peak so remember to think and plan before attempting to hike this trail. Bring water, sunscreen, bug repellent, and snacks.

Beautiful, yet challenging trail! I would recommend if you feel confident with your climbing skills, strength and endurance. Make your steps intentional and go slow, safety is more important than anything. Super steep, which is where rock climbing skills can be helpful to have (use the ropes and trees as well). This trail took almost 5 hours to complete all 3 peaks and get back to our car - so make sure you time yourself well!

Be mindful of where you park. Do not park on paved walk paths...you will be towed. You have to park about 0.8 or 1 mile away from the trailhead because the trailhead is actually located on the golf course property.

The hike itself is HARD but well worth it. The beginning is in the forest and be mindful of the roots...twisted ankle or tripping hazards. Halfway up or so it becomes steep and rocky with scrambling and climbing the mountain the last bit. Hard but the views are majestic and beautiful. Words can't do the view justice. This is a must do hike if you're in shape and adventurous.

I parked at Maunawii Park just to be safe as there were older locals taking their morning walk. It’s a mile walk through the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club to the start of the trail which is clearly marked. I started the hike at around 7am as there was brief rain at 6am that delayed my time. The trail up wasn’t muddy at all. From my parked car, it took me 80 minutes to reach the top at a moderate pace. Stopped at a view places to enjoy the view, record videos, and drink water. There’s plenty of ropes to navigate the cliffs. But overall, it wasn’t as scary as some describe it to be. Overall, most of the trail is at a moderate incline and then you have your brief periods where you are using hands and feet to climb up rocks. If you love nature and are looking physically active, then it’s one of the best places to feel the spirit of the island.

one of the coolest hikes on the island! definitely a steep a difficult trek up to the first peak, but worth it for a 360 degree view of the windward side. negative parking, so you have to park almost a mile away in the closest neighborhood and walk down the road to the trailhead. bring plenty of water because it's all exposed. I've personally only done the first peak, start really early if you want to do all 3 because the last 2 are more challenging than the first.

-Only worth doing the First Peak which is 2.6mi out & back. 2 other peaks are lower which don’t offer any better views.
-DO NOT Park at Maunawili Park, you’ll get a ticket! You can try to find a spot side of the road or just park at Kailua then uber to the start
-Difficulty is moderate if you’re just doing the first peak, most people can definitely make it
-Did this twice and still my favorite hike! Very rewarding and the trail changes

This hike is actually located inside the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club. We parked at the intersection of Auloa Rd and Loop Rd, then walked around 1km to the trailhead (we saw other hikers doing the same).
While the trail has three peaks, we only went to the first peak - around 7km round trip, took us 2hrs 45min. The views were spectacular and we were blessed to see clear blue skies over the lush treetops.
Climbing to the peak itself was a little challenging due to a couple reasons:
- started the hike at 10:30am and started to feel midday heat
- muddy trails from rain the day before
- steeper climbs, there are numerous points with ropes to assist your ascent (highly recommend climbing gloves to protect from rope burn)
The end is totally worth it!

Challenging hike over varied terrain with rock climbing mixed in. It’s not for everyone, you need upper body strength and be ok with heights. It’s not really that dangerous to first peak but you could hurt yourself. Most of the trail is shaded. You have to park about a mile away from the trailhead but it’s flat and paved so it’s a pretty quick walk.

The view from the first peak is jaw dropping. It was such a rush. Highly recommend.
