There is a small section of the park right off the street parking with a play structure suitable for younger kids. Leading away from the park are a number of trails that can, eventually, take you all the way down to the American River. If you just want to take a quick stroll stay in the vicinity of the park entrance. That area is good for almost anyone to safely walk. If you reach the Snipes-Pershing Ravine Trail Bridge, you can turn back and return to the park with "relative" ease. Even before you reach the bride, parts of the trails are rocky, uneven and in some places a little steep. I don't recommend most of the trails for the very young or anyone with difficulty walking. Also, it's easy to get turned around your first time! If you end up walking all the way to the river, well, it's a long walk back to your car 🙂. If you enjoy a moderately challenging trek, the scenery and the views about the river are worth it.

Fun place to walk to. Jungle gym is the perfect size for keeping an eye on little ones, although the structure is intended for 5-12 year old.
Sometimes there's vandalism which is a bummer because otherwise it's a great little park

A nice field to let your dog run with a small park attached;however, be careful for ticks and mites. Evenings not suggested for wild animals are near.

Norman Hamlin Park is known by the OG’s of Orangevale as Snipes Park. Is a very cute and quiet park. It has a couple of swings, jungle gym , a few benches, a water fountain for people and one for the dogs and a book exchange box.
At the back of the park is a trail that takes you down the the river.

Great open trails for morning dog walk with coffee tumbler. Can't wait for next spring so the green can start covering the burned areas.

Park is small but has a cool play structure meant for bigger kids. There is a water fountain with a spout to refill bottles. Short trail in the back leads to the American River and other trails. There is no parking lot or adjacent sidewalk, but the neighborhood is secluded and not busy here. Also no bathrooms.

The playground equipment, as usual for Sac county parks is facing the wrong way! Hot sun shines on the playground equipment and it needs more shade. Since you can't turn around the equipment ask the park district to plant more trees. SMUD gives trees away free. Im a forner Sunrise Park employee retired
