Beautiful Trail Loop. Overnight trip to kick off National Hiking Day during rifle season(not advised). Only saw 2 hunters, 1 other hiker.

Make sure to stay on the trail, blazes are hard to follow on the river side.

A beautiful natural area and a lovely trail to hike. A friend who has been trying to hike the entire Michigan section of the trail convinced me to join him on a 3 day journey. We made about 34 miles.

Plenty of water to drink from streams if you disinfect. Lovely areas to rest and relax. Please be cognizant of the rules about camping, etc. Also respect the Native American lands the trail goes through.

Trail seems to be well market. We even hiked a bit of it in the dark.

We had an awesome time backpacking the loop. We started from Sagle Creek road, which has free parking. The North Country trail portion of the loop is a tough hike, with lots of elevation changes. You are up in the hills so there aren't any streams to draw water from, so you need to pack enough to drink while on this section. The whole loop is very beautiful, and there are a lot of really neat places to stop and camp along the way. I recommend this trail to day hikers and backpackers alike.

The whole NCT section has absolutely no view except woods. Trail goes up and down hills, very tiring. So many tree roots that I got tripping over so many times. During the entire hiking, met about 20 hikers and 10 mountain bikers. Walked 10+ miles for nothing. Would rather drive up to suspension bridge and the view is better there.

Absolutely stunning trail in the manistee forest. There were a lot of hikers on the manistee river side.
North country trail was really quiet and beautiful. Not too many views or people but good for anyone who is trying to backpack because of the amount of dispersed campgrounds.
Manistee river trail follows the river bank. There is a lot of mud along the trail and a lot more hikers. There are a lot of beautiful outlooks over the river.

One of my favorite hikes in the "LP." Great Loop for one- or two-nights backpacking. Wonderful variety, nice elevation changes, and beautiful overlooks. Will get very busy during peak season... but that's because it's so awesome!

Truly amazing trail loop! Just please carry out your trash! The trail and views were beautiful! Just random human trash here and there.
