Craig and Diego are fantastic, knowledgeable, charismatic people who run an excellent, friendly, very well stocked store and a wonderful guide service. I rented La Sportiva mountaineering boots for two separate trips here, and Craig and Diego each made sure I had the right sized boot. Craig guided me up and down Mt. Baker on the Easton Glacier, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better, more trust-worthy, encouraging, efficient, kind, and hilarious guide. He really made my trip up and down Baker superb, and I’m extremely grateful I happened upon his company! Craig was not only a fantastic, highly-experienced mountain guide, but also an extremely kind and helpful person to drive me to the trailhead and back, and then to Mt. Vernon after the climb as I’m from out of town. Thank you SO much, Craig and Diego! I really appreciate you guys and hope to climb with you again!

This was my first time renting mountaineering gear. I rented boots, crampons and hiking poles. Other gear needed for the trip was provided by a friend. The goal was a one day summit trip to Shuksan. Craig took the time needed to help me get a great fitting boot and pre set the crampons for the boots. It was easy to see that Craig was a wealth of knowledge and was happy to answer any questions I had. Further more he was happy to hear about my experience summiting Shuksan and how the gear performed for me. Craig and his team truly care for the love and growth of the sport! I would not hesitate to rent/buy gear from them in the future!!

I stopped in recently to purchase a bear canister from Craig before an upcoming hiking trip. The door was locked but had a number to call for help, so I did. The phone was immediately answered and I waited less than five minutes for assistance. These guys know their stuff and I look forward to using their services throughout the adventure year.

Thank you to Craig and guide Shiona for a wonderful journey up Mt. Baker. My friend and I culminated our 1,250 mile thru-hike of the Pacific Northwest Trail by summiting this prominent landmark along our route. As such, it had very special meaning to us. I appreciated that Craig accommodated our tight schedule and helped us rent all the necessary equipment. Thank you to everyone in Sedro-Woolley for supporting PNT hikers! The shop is a great asset to the community. I was glad to be able to support a small-town business and guide service.

I call 30 minutes before arroving to ask if they have an item in stock. "Hello" was the answer on the phone.

I ask if they have an item, they say they have it.

I arrive at the store to find it closed with a sign o. The door reading, if you want something call me.

I did call and your store is still closed.

What a mess

Met with Diego to pick up an ice ax and crampons before a trip to Sahale Glacier. He was very helpful, laid back and easy to work with. The gear performed as expected and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip! Upon return, Craig helped us out and we chatted with him about his recent Baker summit and other climbs he’s done through the years. Great shop, great gear and great service!

I really wanted to love this shop. Craig and Diego are both very sweet and charismatic, I felt at home from the start. My first issue with their establishment is that I was not able to get a refund for something I had rented in advance and no longer needed. They said they would get charged a fee to refund me, even though I didn’t rent the equipment. Oh well, I got over that - that was my own error.

The thing that truly saddens me and ruined my experience with this shop their lack of care with my boots. I rented mountaineering boots online and picked them up the day before my climb. They felt fine at first glance and try-on, with plenty of room for my feet! I grabbed my gear and headed on my way, without a second thought. It wasn’t until I was at 6,000 feet elevation when I realized they had forgotten to put insoles in my boots, and I ended up walking on (what felt like) a wooden board of a shoe with no support for the entirety of my 16-hour climb. I was never told I had to ask for insoles, as this should always be included in a rental. My feet ached the entire time until they finally went numb. In fact, it’s been two weeks since my climb and I still have no sensation in my feet or toes.

When I returned the boots, I told them about my painful experience, asked if there was anything they could do to make up for the error on their behalf. I was told that I should have noticed, that it was no big deal, that there was nothing they could do. I enjoyed my climb, but the experience was definitely dampened by extreme foot pain, and it was incredibly disheartening to hear they had no empathy for the pain they had caused.

I understand mistakes happen, but I’m a firm believer that a business should stand by their product and support their customers. Make things right when you mess up. Empathy and “putting the customer first” can go a long way. I am sad to say that I will not purchase from this company again.
