Just got a notification that my water was $300. Funny how I arrived home the end of Feb with two men changing my meter and now I have a leak 12 in above this meter. Water dept claimed they found a leak afterwards (week later after meter change per lady on the phone) but neglected to contact me (today is Mar 24th). Story does not add up and its not a coincidence that I have this leak, either. Called a plumber because it is Friday and I know the water department is not in any hurry to claim this problem. $200/hr and she told me I was 3rd in line with people with the same issue as mine. Way to go Rome City! Hire people who are not equipped to handle changing out a water meter (contracted people and I met them the day of the change or I would not have known most of this info).

Another review mentioned they were called before being disconnected. They must know someone in the water department because that never happens for a regular customer! The bills are high compared to any other place I’ve lived. Everything in the way the department is run needs to be updated, including the online payment service! Water quality is horrible!!! There is a constant yellow tinge to the water...for the last 19 years I’ve lived here. It’s distinctly noticeable when I go out of town and experience truly clean water! But they did spend money to upgrade reading of the meters, to make THEIR jobs easier. Can the online system be modernized to add payment reminders and automatic payments? A complete overhaul to modernize customer service would be great, and getting water that is actually clear would be even better!

They have always been very nice and professional. When i forgot to pay my bill once they called me before disconnection. Online is the best way, but inside was quick. It’s not a companies job to make sure you can pay your bills on time. They provide a service. You usually have two bills before you are cut off. That is enough time to fix your issues. Don’t blame them.

So many negative reviews! I've had Rome City Water for several years and granted I mostly pay my water bill online and hardly ever go into the office, I've still never had a bad experience. I just recently visited them to switch my account to our new address and the lady that helped me was super nice and friendly! I always pay my water bill on time so maybe just being a responsible adult factors into their exasperation level. I can relate since I work in billing as well. 😀

My bill averages around $70.00 a month and it’s just me and the wife. I have never paid over $20.00 any ware else I’ve ever lived in my life. I do not understand why. no leaks as I’ve already had someone come and check. the water company cannot tell me why my bill is so high all the time.

Paying on time or being late with your payment doesn't have anything to do with why it's so high.. I live in duplex apt and my bill is enough to pay for mine andcmy next door neighbor and maybe my other next door neighbor. I don't do my laundry at home and it's still higher than I ever seen. From $40 living and the county and out of town but here its $75 to $140 momthly. No leaks, got it check and still no explanation.. And I dont have garbage pick up on there because thats considered county ....

The water here is nasty. So nasty that I have to pay for another company to bring me water I can actually drink. Rome City Commission just raised our water prices by 9% and I still can't drink it. The 'cold' water in North Rome is warm every summer and they 'have no idea why' and won't make any moves to fix it.

Garbage company.
