Sand Castle 1? More like Sand Castle of Horrors.
If you're looking to pay top dollar with motel quality, look no further for you have found your place. Trash everywhere, incompetent employees, failing air conditioners, unkempt grounds and more! However, if you're like me and expect a certain quality for the amount of money you spend then I would take a hard pass on this condo.
We arrive and check in at the Plumlee rental location which is about a mile from the condo. Everything went smoothly and the agents were pleasant. Waited by the pool for our condo to be cleaned. First thing I noticed was very LIMITED parking. Now if you just brought one vehicle then you're fine. You have a designated spot. However, if your brought two like my family did you're screwed. Especially when it is busy. One of our vehicles would be considered over sized. Since our parking spot was under the covered area we could not fit. Our only other option was to park the vehicle a mile down the road at plumlee. Well, turns out the first few day's it didn't matter because the family we were traveling with could not get into their condo.
Here comes the disaster, thanks for staying with me guys, they checked into their condo and noticed that the air wasn't cooling. Called maintenance and waited for them to show up. The maintenance guy was in there maybe 5 minutes and said Plumlee will contact you. Well, Plumlee did not get back with him and he called to talk to the manager. The manager said that they couldn't do anything until Monday because they had to wait on a company. In the mean time they put them up in a house/condo about a mile away. Given this all took several hours to figure out that they wouldn't be staying in their condo and Plumlee had to come up with a plan B. They ended up leaving and going to the designated condo/house they gave them where they tried the keys and they didn't work. Given this house is not on the beach and was extremely gross and outdated. I wish I had pictures but I don't. At this point they're extremely frustrated and calls the front desk about 10 p.m. on a Saturday saying that the keys they were given don't work and this place is a S*** hole. Plumlee then proceeds to tell him to go to another location and to pick up the keys at the key box at plumlee location. They then proceeded to the second location where the keys did work and it was a fine place to stay.
Plumlee did not get back with him until Tuesday where they said that the company fixed the air condition and they were able to move back in.
In conclusion for this story Plumlee handled the situation very poorly they never got back with our family friends about when the condo would be ready, did not offer any compensation until it was brought up to them. Even so the compensation was poor compared to the amount of moving around, loss of family time and loss of relaxation time you go on vacation to enjoy.
Other things that are just mind boggling about a top dollar condo. The elevator is a year expired for re inspection and certification from the state of Florida. This is also the elevator that broke down several times during our stay and where my husband was trapped in for five minutes. For a busy holiday week that 4th of July was I would expect they would have the proper amount of resources/employees to accommodate. The trash was backed up and had a retched smell coming from the elevator areas. There was trash piled by the shoot since it was backed up for floors. We were on the third floor. When they did empty the trash they sat the dumpsters in the parking lot for two days!! Gross. Just gross. We saw multiple cockroaches which is unsurprising especially considering how they handle their trash situation. The pool did not get cleaned regularly, or at all as far as I could tell. It was filled with sand and other particles. I think the pictures and my only small recount shows how very unsatisfied I am. I would not suggest staying here. There are far better places for the same amount of money.
