I checked it out because they have hands down the best selection in town. I was there for a half hour with no acknowledgement from the boot fitters who were with customers. Eventually asked the man at the counter who had appeared (owner?) if anyone could help with boots. He said there wasn’t enough time. Owner told me his policy is that he wont tell customers what boots he has in stock unless they sit to be fitted. I have extremely wide feet so a boot fitting is not helpful. NO boots that I’ve found come out of the box with above a 104 last. Theres no point in sitting for a fitting if he doesn’t even sell boots my size but he wouldn’t discuss it. His policy is his prerogative so good luck to him. Edit: I went to powder hound and they were super helpful and knowledgeable. I’ve been addressed immediately every time I’ve walked in there.

Excellent selection with very helpful and knowledgeable staff. It's obvious the people who work here are passionate about skiing and want to help you find the exact right equipment to suit your needs. Special shout-out to Dave, who went above and beyond on service, including answering my many questions.

They also have a great demo selection at significantly lower prices than other shops in the area (including Girdwood)!

Super happy with my ski set-up. Be prepared to spend some time here finding perfect skis, bindings, and boots. Customer service is super helpful and knowledgeable. I always rented before but now that I have the best fit for me, skiing is very comfortable and enjoyable and no more rental fees. My boots are so "comfy and cozy" and who thought you could say that about ski boots? We were visiting from out of town and spending only 2 days in Anchorage and SkiAK helped me get my set-up before we had to leave for home. And by the way when I walked in the store I was "just looking" but they had a great sale which even included Hilltop passes so I ended up buying.
Fast forward a few weeks later and SkiAK was one of the sponsors for a competition at Alyeska. It was a fundraiser for Girdwood's skate park. They are a local business who supports their local community. They donated great prizes for the competition and my son even ended up winning skis! I highly recommend checking them out and see what they might have for you.

Poor customer service. Went in looking for boots and tried on a couple pairs with an incredibly unhelpful staff person. I was basically shooed out of the store for being a beginner and told to go somewhere else. A beginner skier should get just as good of service as an expert. I’ll take my money to another shop.

Poor selection of boots. Unreliable service. Brought skis in for mounting and was told I could pick them up in 3 days. Stopped in to grab them on my way out of town for a weekend of touring and my skis hadn’t even been touched. Delayed our entire trip and ended up missing a day of skiing. No apology from management. Very disappointing experience, especially in trying to support a local small business. Will not be patroning this store again.

I have bought a lot of gear here over the years and they have great selection along with a knowledgeable crew. Recently had an issue where I ignorantly hurried a boot fitting and binding purchase ending up with the wrong setup. They went above and beyond to make it right. Take your time and let these guys use their expertise to put you in the right set up for your ability and budget. You will be happy with the results. Thanks ski ak!

Good inventory but service lacking. I bought children's ski's and was told I'd have to wait 2-3 weeks for bindings to be mounted on system skis. Powder Hound in Girdwood mounted them within 5 minutes while I waited!!

It’s disappointing to have the type of customer service from this shop when you’ve been supporting them since they were small on Spenard and Benson. Every year I still shop here because I believe in small businesses but man they make it really difficult. I brought my skis in to be edged and waxed and it’s been a few days. I called to inquire and they said they’re done waiting for pick up. I said ok I’d like to pick them up tomorrow seeing as they close in 2 hours and my schedule didn’t allow. He replied “Okay, hurry because we need the space.” This is beyond unacceptable. They love to make it hard every season with this type of customer service.
