I had a fantastic experience at Southern Ski, where I had the chance to get my skis fitted by the owner, Mike. His knowledge of boot fitting is exceptional—he took the time to ensure my boots were perfectly adjusted for both comfort and performance. On top of that, Mike worked his magic fixing the rails on my skis and gave them a thorough waxing. The attention to detail he put into everything really showed, and I could feel the difference as soon as I hit the slopes. If you're looking for expert ski maintenance and fitting, Mike is your guy—he truly knows his stuff!

If you’re serious about skiing please go so Mike at Southern Ski. I bought a pair of cheaper ski boots at a bigger chain a few years back which never fit and always caused discomfort. After going to see Mike he sized my feet and the boots I’d purchased at the big chain were a full size off and the wrong flex. Mike took 2-3 hours to put me in a correctly fitted low volume boot. Full recommend going to Southern Ski, it is well worth the money along with the experience of getting to talk to Mike.

Mike has worked with me on my last two pair of ski boots. Each time, he has taken the time to give the right type of boot brand to fit my foot, taken care of any alignment problems, and serviced my boot as needed. I teach full time at Monarch Ski Area in Colorado, and except for the covid season, work over seventy days each year. Yesterday was my first day on my new boots and they were right on! Txs Mike!

Mike told me to trust him in buying ski boots 2 sizes too small, he said he could make the bigger if needed - I said many times durning the fitting they hurt and felt too small - again, he said to trust him, he knew what he was talking about - after skiing in them a few times and sending them back to him 2X to make the bigger, as he said he could when he sold them to me, they are still too small and hurt my feet so badly can’t wear them skiing. Women be warned - don’t let him talk you into boots you know are too small for you. There goes $700 I can’t get back!!! I went to another ski store and bought new boots in the correct size and I love them and they don’t hurt my feet.

Met with Mike this past weekend. Made the 3ish hour drive from my home in North GA to his store in Columbia.
Season hasn’t started & I don’t have any time in the boots yet but I could tell once everything was said & done that these boots are going to be a game changer for my skiing.
Mike is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to all things feet, boots & skiing. He takes his time explaining every little thing he does throughout his process & even shows you why each step is important.
I’d recommend anyone who is serious about skiing to make an appointment with Mike. Do not expect this to be cheap, custom ski boot fittings are not cheap for a reason but if you are passionate about this sport I highly recommend you pull the trigger & give Mike a visit.
I’ll circle back mid season for an update on the boots’ performance(which I can already tell will be incredible).

I went to buy some ski boots, but the fit was extremely tight and painful. Despite buying the recommended socks and returning multiple times for adjustments, the boots didn't fit correctly. I spent over $1,000 at Southern Ski, yet each time I returned, he didn't seem to remember me. While skiing in Austria, Wyoming, Utah, and Montana, I went to other boot fitters for help and they were shocked I was skiing in such small boots. As a result, I ended up losing nearly all of my toenails due to the poor fit.

Where do I even start…
I went in to Southern Ski knowing I wanted custom-fitted ski boots and I left more than Satisfied. Mike is truly amazing, and his 35 years in the business is apparent.

Now be prepared for some talking, I was in the store for a good two hours and twenty minutes with the first hour-ish just talking about the ins-and-outs of ski boots. I found it extremely fascinating and loved every second of it. Granted, I came in September so there was no one else in the store. I believe Mike said on average you’ll be in the store for around an hour and a half.

Also to touch on other reviews about price, Mike stocks high quality boots that will last you many many years. I spent $750 on boots. You know what they say, “marry the boots, date the skis”

Overall great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to purchase custom-fitted boots.
