Fantastic store, been going here for years. Brian did an amazing job heat molding my ski boots and they’re much more comfortable now. Incredible service, abundant rental options at a good price, huge selection, including pre-owned. My fave store in the east bay if I’m being honest. And dog friendly!

The ski/boots guy we got help with was super helpful even though he was balancing so many clients. Never was there to buy , just try on but after finding the perfect boots and watching my daughter slipping in her boots with such ease…. Boom! Plus 20% off!

I have a well-supported experience at the Berkeley store. The selection made Christmas gift and personal shopping easy to get high quality cold weather gear. The floor staff were personable, helpful, and informed. I found a great Patagonia sweater in my size and on sale, thanks to a wonderful staff member. This is my new favorite location.

The Berkeley sports basement has to be one of the best locations they have. A huge selection of everything outdoors and a great staff to help with any questions. I came in for a calibration, edge tune and wax on my skis and the ski shop crew was very friendly and helpful for the entire interaction and were even able to get my skis back the same day. I can’t recommend the ski shop enough for anyone in the Bay Area looking for knowledgeable people to help with all things ski and snowboard!

We held a public event at the Berkeley Sports Basement Community Room over the weekend, and the staff went above and beyond. One young lady helped us out with our signage, and a man, Tom I think, made our event more visible from the entrance and really improved our foot traffic. The staff was friendly and helpful, and offered options for us we didn’t know were available. I really appreciate their customer service, as well as Sports Basement’s dedication to being a positive part of our local community.

Sports basement has a great selection of a variety of gear including winter sports. Prices are typically good although they do seem to get beat on sale price items. Would love it if the lines weren’t so long for checkout and especially for shop services. Thanks for being dog friendly.

Gabriel in bike was helpful and knowledgeable! We’ve come up with a suitable / affordable plan for my bike’s annual SB deluxe tune + a few replacement components. I hope to update this review with good news when the work is completed.

Update (1/8/25): Tom (owner) personally reached out to me about my experience, and let me know a number of the staff was out sick on this particular day. He also offered to refund my rental and gave me a gift card. I definitely appreciate the customer care and service Tom was able to provide. Updating from 1 to 4 stars.

1hr+ to rent a pair of snow pants that I had reserved online wow! So inefficient, had to be the worst experience I’ve had. Will not be coming again.
