I'd been searching for a custom boot maker for several months. Mainly because no one makes boots in my size (12 4E). I found Mr. Stapleman and had him make me a pair. The man is a true artisan. The boots are beautiful, very comfortable and very well made. I would definitely buy another pair and I highly recommend him.

I was in town for work and needed new heel caps on my boots. I dropped them off and Richard had them done the same day. Superb craftsmanship and customer service.
While I was in there I looked over a pair of custom cowboy boots he had made for another customer, just beautiful work. They looked perfect. I'll definitely make the six hour drive to Pendleton when I'm ready for a new pair of boots, totally worth it.

I was visiting Pendleton and read about Staplemans Boots in the local tourist guide and decided just to pop in to watch them in action - I had no intention of buying a pair of boots. Well, there was a beautiful pair of boots sitting on the counter that caught my eye so I started to make inquiries and fifteen minutes later Richard was measuring my feet for custom boots. I had always wanted nice cowboy boots (or any nice boot) but I have very wide feet and calves (thanks Grandma!) and could never find anything that fit. During the design phase, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted and their assistance was invaluable. I have since received the boots and they are more beautiful than I could ever have imagined. And the best part, they are the most comfortable footwear I have ever owned - I wear my boots all the time and can walk miles in them. People have stopped me on the streets of New York City asking me where I purchased the boots, including a shoe salesperson at the new Nordstrom store. They are so comfortable I have to start saving for a second pair of boots - Richard is not only a true gentleman, but also a master of his craft!

Best, most comfortable pair of boots, shoes, or any other kind of footwear I've ever had. Mr Stapleman said exactly what he was going to do and when he was going to get it done by and he was spot on in every way. Nevermind that his craftsmanship is the best of the best, it's also his high degree of integrity and honesty that drew me in in the first place. If you are honest about what you want, he will make it for you and you will not be disappointed.

You may not REALIZE that you need a pair of cowboy boots, but ten minutes inside Stapleman’s will cure you of that ignorance. It’s not cheap (I’m saving up!) but even if you can’t buy yet, it’s fascinating to watch them work on the boots. Every boot here is crafted by hand—and you can drift in off the street just to watch the old-fashioned magic.

I wear a 7AA boot and it is difficult to find them anywhere, so I took my boots here for repairs and was thrilled with the quality of the work. The zippers in my quasi-riding boots evoke a biker vibe which I love and the gusset he created in my calf hugging fashion boots accommodates my bulging biking muscles. Worth the wait! Plus Pendleton is a fun place to visit and I always find something to buy when I am there.
