We went to visit Old Nauvoo and it is beautiful. I cannot describe to you how the spirit of the Lord still after all of these years rests upon that place. We learned today that the blacksmiths were the last to leave Nauvoo because of the many people that needed their services. These were brave men who trusted in the Lord with everything they had

We got to learn about the original blacksmith shop with a working forge. They made mini horse shoes we got to take with us. They also showed us how they would have made wagon wheels. Our kids really liked this stop. It was free and we went in January and there was no wait.

Nauvoo was fantastic. Walk around the streets and the inside of businesses, buildings and homes of the pioneers. The missionaries were so well versed and able to not only quote and share pioneer stories but also hands-on experiences at the printing press, blacksmiths and many more! Highly recommend! Our family even got a souvenir horseshoe to take home with us!

It's interesting to learn how to make horse shoes and ox shoes. Guess what I learned? Ox are just cows! Did not know that. I was given a really small one to take home which I love. and learning how they captured the queen bee and the rest of the give would follow and they took them to Utah is amazing. Love the stories.
