Rented from them a few times before just buying my own. They were fast, the website was easy to use and they were easy to work with. After buying my own, the staff was super friendly and even came to our aid when my partner got a deep cut on the river.

KILLER experience every time we go. Clean equipment, knowledgeable staff and a great activity in Bothell. I hear they are in Woodinville now too!

Samamish river kayak rentals. Very calm and pastoral. Prices lower than lake Washington rentals.

1, they are rarely open. And when they are they close super early, in the summer that is hours before sunset. You never know for sure if you’ll be able to get on the water.

2, they have an inefficient and long sign up process where you first have to make a reservation on their website even if you are already there! Try asking on-site that you want a kayak for now. They might ask you if you want to make a reservation, which is dumb. Imagine the same thing at a restaurant!

3, their kayaks, canoes, and gear are some of the cheapest, which is not a good experience on the water. Definitely not a match for their hourly rates.

4, generally the employees cannot answer questions, they always respond with “I’d have to talk to the owner”, for example when it comes to tips on how to best paddle or info about their gear.

5, they change rules arbitrarily without notification to previous customers (for example: “can / cannot take dogs”, “can take dogs on canoe only”, “cannot take dogs more than 35 lbs”, “can / cannot bring a cooler”, “must wear swimsuit”, etc.

Overall, they have a very unreliable service. I do not recommend. Best to rent somewhere else before getting there.

I am not sure why they have a concession at all, to essentially store their stuff on public space.

Recently rented a couple of double kayaks, they were very friendly, they were able to help us on the phone to adjust us on father's day. They even did not charge for extra time we took due to our kids taking longer to come back, really appreciate the service. The boats were in great condition too.

This review is long overdue. I actually rented a canoe from them last year. Back then the owner himself ran the small trailer office, now he has a bunch of kids working there and they do an awesome job. I found it was easier to manage the canoe with a double ended kayak paddle and not a regular single canoe paddle. They have reasonable rates although they don't have any competition in the area so they charge whatever they want... But nonetheless its a good place with friendly people who really enjoy helping you.

I walked by this place a walking my dog. It's very simple to get to from the parking lot, just a few feet. Entering the river looks very easy, couple of nice people there to help you (heard them talking to potential renters), prices were something like $18 for a single canoe and 22 for a double canoe for first hour. The river was flowing well, looked medium-speed to me but I saw a couple paddling upstream so it must have been fairly decent going up or downstream. Looked good for beginners as long as you could paddle.
I'm going to get my husband and go back and one of the next couple weekends.
