There are a handful of staff that are passionate about helping others with their career path. Unfortunately, the careless ones are there only to receive a paycheck like Sheila Katusiime. When I first met her, she volunteered information about her struggles in Africa as a poor woman with no identity. She gave the impression that this is why she's in the industry. I'm American so maybe she only wants to help other African women. Sheila pretends a lot and puts on a fake smile, but behind the scenes she gossips negatively about clients and she's not trustworthy. I was attempting to sign up for one of WSM training programs. Sheila gave me incorrect information about the eligibility criteria to sabotage my progress. If it had not been for another staff who intervened and told me steps to sign up, I would have missed the opportunity.

WorkSource Montgomery has wasted nearly two years of my life. I complied with every requirement — resume classes (which I didn’t need because I write resumes for others in my LLC), mock interviews (which I passed easily), and endless meetings. But every time I neared job placement, my coach would leave, and I had to start over. I have been crystal clear: I need remote, livable-wage work due to disability, caregiving responsibilities, and burnout risk. Instead, they pushed me toward minimum-wage jobs and public transportation that do not fit my reality. For a program that claims to “fast track employment for disabled people,” this has been an endless loop of turnover, wasted time, and zero results. I am deeply concerned about those with disabilities that require more assistance. How are they able to fare without the support that has been promised to them? How are those disabled individuals who are unable to self-advocate managing?

When I reached out to ask questions, I felt that I was interrupted several times during the conversation. The representative seemed somewhat hesitant about my interest in the program. I'm left with some concerns, as the program is designed to assist people, yet my experience was not as welcoming as I had hoped.

It’s truly impressive how difficult it is to get a response from someone whose job description likely includes “communication.” I’ve reached out multiple times via email to Keonna Scott over the course of several days—if not weeks—and have received absolutely nothing in return. I can only assume my messages got lost in the same black hole where professionalism and accountability sometimes disappear.

I understand everyone is busy, but if responding to people is too much to ask, perhaps there should be a different system in place—or at the very least, an auto-reply that says, “Don’t bother.” I genuinely expected better from an organization that claims to support the workforce.

Came to this office to ask some questions regarding BEACON and the Maryland Workforce Exchange portal sites. I initially called over the phone with my questions, and the person on the other end was giving my conflicting answers with what was seen on the portal sites.

After arriving to this office, one of the receptionists at the front desk answered my questions in an unprofessional, condescending matter. I wanted clarification on a discrepancy found on the maryland.labor.gov site, the BEACON portal, and the Maryland Workforce Exchange portal.

I hope that whoever reads this does not have the same experience I did. Rude and unprofessional conduct.

The career "advisers" are so poorly screened and trained. It's like a blind leading the blind situation. Career advising is NOT their strong suit. Shame.

Worksource is supposedly a resource for job seekers. The unprofessional career advisors are incompetent, disrespectful, and clueless about the employment process, so it’s unclear how they can help. When you bring it up, you get dismissed. Clearly the management is deluded.

Good evening..

I went today arrow 2:00 PM, a lady with
short hair, I told her the I needed help sending some documents online, she told me several times that it was for
BEACON and I didn't understand it because it's my first time hearing that word... OMG, she was rude and yelled telling me to sign first.
She really didn't help me, he told me that I had to go to the computer rude... and then I went back again and ask him who was going to help me...
There is a young Hispanic lady told me to wait, because she was helping the costomers.. At that moment she didn't have anyone she was talking to her coworker. Not
Professionals, when you ask questions they ignore you for a while... Why those people there? They have terrible customer service, don't want to work, go home and don't make the lives of others bitter, we already have enough problems...

Thanks,

Subir
